Assistant Professor Max Lam

Asst Prof Max Lam is Chief Technology Officer of PRECISE, the central entity established to implement Phase II and Phase III of Singapore's National Precision Medicine strategy.
A young investigator in neuropsychiatric genomics, he serves as the Senior Research Psychologist at the Institute of Mental Health (IMH) in Singapore. His work spans various significant roles, including the Principle Investogator at the Neuropsychiatric Genomics Laboratory at IMH (NGL@IMH), Deputy Scientific Director at the PRECISE-SG100K National Precision Medicine Programme, and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Population/Global Health at Lee Kong Chian School of Medicine, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Beyond these roles, Asst Prof Max Lam extends his expertise as a Visiting Scientist at the Stanley Center for Psychiatric Research, The Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT, and the Division of Psychiatry Research, Zucker Hillside Hospital in New York, USA.
Throughout his career,Asst Prof Max Lam has contributed significantly to cognitive and psychiatric genetics. His work has elucidated the genetic architecture of sognitive function, identified genomic loci associated with cognitive ability, and identified actionable variantsf for nootropic drug targets. His research into psychiatric genetics has extended biological insights into schizophrenia and other psychiatric illnesses across diverse ancestries, highlighting the need for large-scale genomic studies worldwide.
